A quirk to me sounds like an unusual word. So if I were to define it, then it should pertain to something unusual too.
To quote a definition from The Free Dictionary -
quirk (kwûrk) n.1. A peculiarity of behavior; an idiosyncrasy:
Every man had his own quirks and twists" (Harriet Beecher Stowe).
